Theropoda
Theropoda is a group of dinosaurs within the original Dinosauria that includes all carnivorous and some omnivorous dinosaurs. It includes the iconic Tyrannosaurus rex, as well as the Velociraptor and Allosaurus. Theropods’ distinctively bird-like hip bones indicate that they were likely the ancestors of modern birds which evolved from a smaller two-legged ancestor. The Theropoda are important to paleontologists and biologists studying the evolution and ecology of modern-day birds. Its diverse groups of species provide a wealth of information on the behavior, lifestyles, and interactions of their prehistoric relatives. They are a vital piece of the evolutionary puzzle, helping us to better understand our world today.
