Scorpions
Scorpions are arachnids, meaning they have eight legs, two pincers and a segmented body. They have been around for 400 million years and can be found in many climates including deserts, forests and grasslands. Scorpions are considered a keystone species in their ecosystems because they eat other small invertebrates, helping to keep the populations of their prey in check. They are also important predators of other arachnids such as spiders, harvestmen and mites. Scorpions are also used in medical research, as their venom has been found to have potential uses in the treatment of certain diseases.
