Rotifers
Rotifers are microscopic, aquatic animals that can be found in various freshwater habitats around the globe. They are important components of aquatic food webs and have been widely used as model organisms to study a number of biological processes. Rotifers are mostly predators and feed on small organisms such as protists, bacteria, and other microscopic animals. They are also capable of surviving in harsh environments and can be used to monitor the quality of aquatic ecosystems. Their ability to withstand wide temperature fluctuations enables them to be used as a bioindicators for aquatic pollution and global climate change.
