Rickettsia
Rickettsia is a genus of Gram-negative, intracellular, obligate parasites carried by certain arthropods, such as ticks and mites. These Rickettsia species are responsible for various diseases in humans, such as typhus, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and Queensland tick typhus. Rickettsia has been extensively studied due to its importance in public health, due to its ability to infect humans and cause diseases. Additionally, Rickettsia is used as a model organism for research in areas such as evolution, ecology, and cell biology.
