Raccoons

Raccoons (Procyon lotor) are medium-sized mammals native to North America and parts of Central and South America. They are highly adaptable and can be found in many habitats including forests, grasslands, and urban areas. Raccoons are characterized by their grey fur, black facial mask, and distinctive banded tail. Their diet consists of both plants and animals. They are known for their clever problem-solving abilities and have been observed using tools to raid bird feeders and toilet lids to obtain food. Raccoons are often seen as pests in residential areas due to their attraction to human-supplied foods. However, they are important to biodiversity by providing links in food webs and playing a role in pest control.
