Proestrus

Proestrus is a stage in the female reproductive cycle of certain mammals, including humans. It is the time between ovulation and the onset of estrus (the time during which the female is most receptive to mating). During proestrus, the female's body prepares for ovulation and her estrogen levels are at their highest, making her more sexually active. The duration of proestrus varies between species but is usually several days to a few weeks. Its duration is important for successful mating as it allows time for the male to locate and compete for the female. Proestrus plays an important role in mammalian reproduction and is necessary for successful breedings.
