Predation

Predation is an ecological interaction between two species, where one species (the predator) captures and feeds on the other species (the prey). This interaction is an important element of the food web and contributes to maintaining the balance of populations in ecosystems. Predators can have both beneficial and negative effects on their prey, such as keeping the numbers of their prey in check, or creating a "landscape of fear" where prey become fearful of predators and move to different areas. This interaction has been studied to understand the dynamics of different populations, species interactions, and food webs as well as to develop conservation strategies.
