Molluscs
Molluscs are a group of invertebrate animals that range from the small, single-celled protozoa to the large and complex cephalopods. They are among the most diverse and successful animals on Earth, inhabiting almost every environment in the oceans, on land and even in the air! They are mostly known for their shell, which provides protection as well as a home for the animal. Molluscs are an important source of food for humans, with species like oysters, clams, mussels, squid, octopus and snails being popular delicacies. They also provide important ecological services, such as filtering water and providing habitats for other organisms, making them essential for life in marine and freshwater ecosystems.
