Jaguars

Jaguars (Panthera onca) are the only big cat species found in the Americas and the largest big cat species in the Western Hemisphere. They are powerful predators that live in a variety of habitats, ranging from rainforest to scrubland. Jaguars are iconic animals of the Americas and are revered across many cultures. Hunting and habitat destruction threatens the future of jaguars, and they are now listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List. Conservation efforts are underway to help protect jaguars and their habitats for future generations.
