Isopods
Isopods are a group of crustaceans that includes terrestrial and marine species. They are related to shrimp, crabs, and lobsters and have a wide geographical distribution. They are some of the most abundant invertebrates on Earth, playing an important role in the food webs of aquatic environments. Isopods are used in research to study the effects of marine pollution on benthic ecosystems and biogeochemical cycles, as well as for the development of bioremediation techniques. They are also used in the food industry as an alternative to fish.
