Ichthyology
Ichthyology is the scientific study of fish and other aquatic organisms. Ichthyologists study a wide range of topics including the anatomy, physiology, ecology, behaviour, and evolution of fish. They also examine the role of fishes as indicators of environmental health, examine the impacts of fishing and other human activities on aquatic ecosystems, and develop management strategies for sustainable aquatic habitats. Ichthyology plays an important role in conservation and resource management, as knowledge of fish biology and behaviour helps us to better understand and manage aquatic systems. It also has important implications in recreational and commercial fisheries, aquaculture, and biotechnology.
