Heredity
Heredity is the process through which biological characteristics and traits are passed from one generation to the next. Through heredity, characteristics such as a person's hair or eye color are determined by the genes that are inherited from their parents. Heredity plays an essential role in many aspects of biology, from understanding the development and growth of organisms to determining the health risks of individuals and populations. Heredity also informs our understanding of diseases and disorders, aiding in the development of new treatments, medications, and preventative strategies.
