Dracunculus

vulgaris Dracunculus vulgaris, also known as the dragon arum or voodoo lily, is a striking and unique species of plant found in Mediterranean countries. It produces a tall, spotted, inflorescence that can reach up to a meter in height. The inflorescence is scented, resembling rotting meat, and is pollinated by blowflies and flesh flies. The species is of great importance due to its unique ecology, as it is one of the few plant species where pollination by certain insects has been observed in detail. This species is also used in traditional medicine as a remedy for rheumatism and as an antiseptic. Due to its distinctive inflorescence, this species is also cultivated in gardens and parks, creating an attractive landscape feature.
