Diprotodon

Diprotodon is an extinct genus of large, herbivorous marsupial from the late Pleistocene era. It is the largest known marsupial ever to have lived, with some species measuring up to 3 metres in length. Diprotodon was an important part of the Australian megafauna, and its fossils provide information about the environment and climate of the Pleistocene era. It has also been used to study the evolution of marsupials in Australia, especially in relation to changes in climate. Diprotodon's long-term significance lies in its role as a keystone species in the Australian Pleistocene ecosystem.
