Cats
Cats are the most popular pet in the world, kept by humans for thousands of years. These domesticated animals provide companionship, amusement and help to keep rodent populations in check. Cats have a unique anatomy and exhibit intelligent behaviours in their interactions with humans and other animals. The distinctive meow of cats has also been associated with improved mental and physical health benefits for owners. Cats are a popular subject of scientific studies due to their wide use in research and the fact that they are able to breed in the laboratory, making them an excellent model organism for studying evolution, development, behaviour and other biological phenomena.
