Brucella
Brucella are gram-negative bacteria that cause brucellosis, an infectious disease in humans and animals. Brucella can be transmitted through contact with infected animals or through ingestion of contaminated food or water. Brucella can cause a range of health issues including fever, headache, malaise, and joint pain. In animals, it can lead to infertility, premature birth, abortions, and reduced milk production. In humans, it can also cause inflammation of the lining of the heart and meningitis. Brucella can be treated with antibiotics; however, due to the emergence of drug resistance, prevention through vaccination remains the most effective way to control brucellosis.
