Arthropods
Arthropods are a type of animals with an exoskeleton, a segmented body, and jointed legs. They are the most diverse group of animals on Earth, making up more than 80% of all known species. Arthropods have an enormous range of habitats and are found almost everywhere, from the highest mountain peaks to the deepest sea trenches. They are a vital part of all terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, breaking down organic matter, consuming decomposing material, and providing food for other animals. Humans rely on arthropods for pollination, pest control, food production, and even in medical research. Arthropods are incredibly important to our world and, without them, life on Earth would not be sustainable.
