Overview
Women's reproductive health refers to the physical, mental, and social well-being of the female reproductive system across all stages of life, including the capacity to have a satisfying and safe reproductive life and the ability to decide whether, when, and how often to reproduce. It encompasses the health of the reproductive organs and their functions, from menstruation and fertility through pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause, as well as the prevention and management of conditions such as hormonal imbalances, infections, premenstrual syndrome, and reproductive cancers. Reproductive health also includes access to information, preventive care, and services that support healthy pregnancies and informed choices. A wide range of factors—biological, behavioral, social, and environmental—can influence outcomes, and care spans the lifespan from adolescence to older age. Research published in this journal relevant to women's reproductive health includes studies on preconception care, menopausal symptoms and their effects on daily life, premenstrual syndrome among young women, and the medical management of sexual assault survivors, reflecting the breadth of the field. As an open-access journal devoted to women's reproductive health, this publication addresses the conditions, care, and broader determinants that shape reproductive well-being. This page collects peer-reviewed scholarship relevant to women's reproductive health across the lifespan.
