Overview

Twin pregnancy is a unique reproductive phenomenon where a woman carries two embryos instead of one in her uterus until birth. Twin pregnancies can be divided into two categories: identical and fraternal. Identical twins occur when a single fertilized egg splits into two separate embryos, while fraternal twins develop when two separate eggs are fertilized by two different sperm.
