Women's Mental Health and Relationships
Women's mental health and relationships is an important topic as women face unique challenges, stressors, and mood disorders that profoundly impact their lives. Gender differences in psychological and interpersonal functioning are associated with uniquely female experiences including increased stress related to social roles, beliefs about body image, and cultural messages about gender. Relationships play an integral role in the mental health of women, as strong connections to friends, family, and romantic partners can help to build resilience and provide a buffer against psychological difficulties. Women who have positive and supportive relationships are more likely to have better mental health outcomes. Improving awareness of the unique mental health needs of women, and the importance of developing and maintaining healthy relationships, can be a helpful way to support and promote better mental health outcomes.
