Psychobiology

Psychobiology is the study of the relationships between bodily and psychological phenomena. It examines how biology, genetics and environmental factors affect behaviour and mental processes; how physical and emotional states are related; how these relationships can be used to treat mental health and behavioural disorders; and how the brain processes emotions, thoughts and memories. This interdisciplinary field is important in understanding the underlying causes of psychological and behavioural disorders and developing interventions to address them. Its applications range from understanding the biological basis of mental illness to improving healthcare delivery and developing new treatments for psychological and psychiatric disorders.
