Pregnancy and Birth
Pregnancy is a remarkable process of human development in which a female fetus develops from conception until birth. During pregnancy, the mother's body undergoes drastic changes to accommodate the needs of the fetus. During birth, the fetus is expelled from the womb and enters the world. Pregnancy and birth are critical processes for the survival and health of both mother and baby. Pregnancy and birth are also important events in a family’s life, and have become increasingly important to society as a whole. Pregnancy and birth can include the use of medical interventions, such as prenatal care, antibiotics, caesarian section, and epidurals, to assist in the delivery of the baby. Additionally, psychological and emotional support throughout pregnancy and birth are now widely accepted as necessary and beneficial. By providing adequate education and support to pregnant women, our society is able to ensure a healthy and safe pregnancy and birth process.
