Postpartum Disorders
Postpartum disorders (PPD) are a group of psychological, physical and emotional difficulties that can occur in a woman after giving birth. Although the exact cause of PPD is unknown, the condition is thought to be linked to hormonal changes, psychological stress and other environmental factors. PPD can have a significant impact on a woman’s life, affecting her ability to bond with her newborn, care for her other children, and function in daily life. It is important to recognize the signs and seek help in order to prevent it from becoming more serious. Treatment usually consists of medications, supportive counseling and lifestyle changes such as support from family and friends, participating in activities and pursuing hobbies. With these steps, women suffering from PPD can work towards alleviating their symptoms and improving their overall well-being.
