Parenting Behavior
Parenting behavior is the manner in which a parent interacts with and responds to their child. Parenting behavior contributes to a child's psychological and emotional development, and has both short-term and long-term effects on their wellbeing. It also has implications for their social and educational development, physical health, and mental health. Examples of positive parenting behavior include providing a secure and nurturing home environment, offering love, guidance, support and structure, and setting appropriate boundaries. In contrast, negative parenting behavior, such as harsh discipline and verbal abuse, can lead to negative outcomes such as depression and anxiety, as well as difficulties with interpersonal relationships. Research has shown that positive parenting behavior can lead to better outcomes in children, including improved academic performance, enhanced social skills, and better physical and mental health.
