Neuropsychiatry

Neuropsychiatry is a branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders from a neurological standpoint. Neuropsychiatrists focus on how the brain, nervous system, and other bodily functions are related to mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse, and dementia. Neuropsychiatrists use a combination of biological treatments, such as medication, and psychological therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, to provide holistic treatment for patients with mental health issues. For patients with complex mental health issues, neuropsychiatry offers an integrated approach that can provide a clearer understanding of the underlying neurological processes involved in the condition. This understanding can help guide more effective and longer lasting treatment options.
