Neurobiology
Neurobiology is the scientific study of the structure and function of the nervous system. Its primary aim is to understand the molecular and cellular basis of normal neurological function, as well as the causes and consequences of neurological diseases. Neurobiology is an exciting and rapidly growing field with applications ranging from understanding the causes of neurological diseases, to developing treatments or cures, to developing new techniques for improving cognitive and neurological development. Neurobiology is a dynamic field that draws from related disciplines such as neurology, pathology, psychology, genetics, and biochemistry, as well as from emerging fields such as neuroscience and optogenetics. As a result, neurobiology has the potential to improve public health and the quality of life for individuals with neurological diseases and disorders.
