Cognitive Impairment
Cognitive impairment is a decrease in an individual's ability to think, learn, and remember. It is a common problem associated with aging and a major cause of disability in older adults. Cognitive impairment can affect activities of daily living, such as driving, shopping, managing finances, and managing medications. It often results in changes in behavior and personality, making it difficult for individuals to maintain relationships and participate in social activities. Cognitive impairment can be treated with medications, psychotherapy, and lifestyle modifications, such as exercise, nutrition, and cognitive stimulation.
