Behaviorism
Behaviorism is a branch of psychology which focuses on how behavior is learned and modified through consequences or rewards. It posits that behavior can be learned through a system of reinforcement and punishment, resulting in changes to an individual’s behavior. Behaviorism has had a major influence on the development of various forms of behavior therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as in the study of animal behavior. Behaviorism has provided an empirical and scientific foundation to better understand how people learn and how to modify behavior to benefit them in everyday life. Behaviorism offers useful insights on how to develop positive behavior in an environment, such as in the workplace, educational institutions, and the home.
