Behavioral Therapies
Behavioral therapy is a type of psychotherapy which focuses on modifying maladaptive behaviors in an individual through the use of positive reinforcement, consequences, and other forms of guided learning. By helping the individual become aware of their own destructive patterns, the therapist can help the patient develop healthier behaviors in order to achieve better mental health outcomes. Behavioral therapies can be effective in treating a variety of mental health and behavioral problems, such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and stress. These therapies can also help improve interpersonal relationships and help individuals to better manage difficult life transitions. Behavioral therapies are often used as an alternative to medications for more lasting, positive effects.
