Wildlife Taxonomy

Wildlife taxonomy is the study of classification, identification, and nomenclature of animals. It has a crucial role in species conservation and management by providing the necessary information to understand the dynamics of species’ populations and ecosystems. Wildlife taxonomy is essential for understanding and accurately identifying species of plants and animals, which is essential for the conservation of biodiversity and protection of endangered species. Furthermore, it is used in the formulation and updating of legal and policy frameworks that promote sustainability of wildlife and ecosystems. The application of wildlife taxonomy is also beneficial in pest and weed control programs, the management of hunting seasons and hunting quotas, the regulation of animal trade and trafficking, and the development of strategies to prevent wildlife diseases. In sum, wildlife taxonomy is a vital tool for the conservation and management of wild species, ecosystems, and their habitats.
