Wildfires

Wildfires are uncontrolled blazes that occur in ecosystems that contain flammable material. They can spread rapidly, consuming plant and animal life and damaging homes and other man-made structures. Wildfire suppression is essential to reduce the risk of significant damage and loss of life. Wildfires can have positive outcomes as well, such as releasing nutrients into the soil, eliminating pests, and improving wildlife habitat. By managing wildfire activity, land managers aim to maximize these positive outcomes while minimizing its destructive potential.
