Wildebeest
migration Wildebeest migration is an iconic phenomenon of the African continent. Every year, over 1.3 million wildebeests migrate from the Serengeti (in Tanzania) to the Maasai Mara (in Kenya), covering over 1,800 miles. It is one of the largest movements of land animals on earth, as well as one of the most impressive displays of natural behavior. Wildebeest migration is significant because it sustains the eco-system of the African savannas and has been estimated to bring in over 950 million dollars in economic benefits to the regions in which it occurs. Wildebeest migration is also a major tourist attraction, drawing in visitors from all around the world.
