Spiders
Spiders are arachnids, meaning they have eight legs and two body segments. They are one of the oldest and most successful groups of animals, having evolved more than 300 million years ago. Spiders play an important environmental role in controlling insect populations, as they are voracious predators that feed mainly on insects. Spiders are also important to humans as they provide us with insects they prey on, such as mosquitoes and flies, allowing us to better control pest populations. They also produce silk, which is used in various industries, including medical, textile and food production.
