Gorillas
Gorillas are an endangered species of great apes, which are widely distributed throughout Central and Western Africa. They are the largest living primate, standing at 1.7-1.8 meters tall on average and weighing in at up to 220 kilograms. They live in small family groups, eating a vegetarian diet and spending much of their time in trees, building nests in the branches to sleep in at night. Gorillas are highly intelligent and display complex social behavior that includes communication and relationships, problem solving, and tool use. Gorillas are important to the African rainforest ecosystem, as they help to disperse seeds, pollinate flowers, and maintain the balance of their habitat. They are also important for tourism, bringing income and jobs to the local communities that live in these areas.
