Ecosystem Restoration
Ecosystem restoration is the process of renewing and restoring degraded, damaged, or destroyed ecosystems and habitats, so that they can continue to provide benefits and services to the environment and to humans. It includes the establishment of healthy vegetation, restoring habitats, and the conservation of species. Ecosystem restoration is an important tool for improving the quality of life and protecting the environment, as well as providing economic benefits and reducing human health risks. By restoring degraded ecosystems, ecosystem restoration helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve ecosystem resilience, store carbon, increase biodiversity, and produce clean water and air. Ecosystem restoration also promotes the conservation of wildlife, increases recreational opportunities, and restores valuable ecosystems for the benefit of future generations.
