Birches

Birches (Betula spp.), are a genus of deciduous trees commonly found throughout the northern hemisphere. They are valued for their timber, ornamental, environmental and even medicinal qualities. Birches have been used for centuries as a source of wood for building and crafting, while their shade and ornamental leaves have made them popular additions to landscaping. In recent times, some species of birch have been studied for their medicinal properties, such as Betula Lenta (Black Birch), which is thought to have anti-inflammatory and pain relieving abilities. They are also extremely important in the environment, providing the main food source for numerous species of wildlife and protecting the soil and watersheds from erosion. Birches are an integral part of our world and should be appreciated for the many benefits that they bring to us.
