Typhoons
Typhoons are large and powerful tropical storms that form in the ocean, usually in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. These storms are accompanied by heavy rains and strong winds, with maximum sustained winds reaching 120 miles per hour. Typhoons can cause significant damage to coastal areas, including flooding, wind damage and storm surges. Their effects can also reach further inland, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to large populations. Being aware of typhoons and taking precautions to protect lives and property is important, as they have the potential to cause significant damage, both inland and along coastlines.
