Sustainable Forestry

Sustainable forestry is the practice of managing forests for both economic and environmental benefits. It involves harvesting timber for economic gain in a manner that supports the health of the forests and minimizes environmental degradation. This practice is important for maintaining the long-term health of ecosystems and preserving biodiversity, as well as for reducing climate change by sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Sustainable forestry also protects soil and water quality, which is essential for supporting healthy ecosystems and human populations. In addition, wood products obtained from sustainably managed forests can provide essential social and economic benefits, such as jobs, local income, and renewable energy.
