Contaminants

Contaminants are substances that are foreign to the environment and can have an adverse effect on it. Examples include pollutants such as heavy metals, chemicals, and microorganisms, as well as physical contaminants such as dirt and sand. Contaminants can be found in air, water, soil, food and consumer products. Exposure to contaminants can lead to a range of health problems and environmental damage, so it is important to monitor their presence and limit their impact. There are several methods to lessen contamination, such as reducing the use of hazardous materials, controlling soil erosion and managing wastewater. Contaminants need to be monitored in all aspects of life, from agricultural production to industrial activities.
