Atmospheric Phenomena
Atmospheric phenomena are events occurring in the atmosphere of Earth or other planets. They can be divided into two main categories - meteorological phenomena and climatic phenomena. Meteorological phenomena include storms such as tornadoes, thunderstorms, cyclones, and more; whereas climatic phenomena include El Niño, La Niña, and the monsoon. Atmospheric phenomena have significant influences on the environment, daily life, and human activity. For example, storms can cause destruction to infrastructure and cost economies billions of dollars in damages and losses. Similarly, El Niño can cause droughts and floods leading to food and water scarcity. Therefore, atmospheric phenomena are essential to recognize, monitor and understand for proper emergency management and resource allocation.
