Watersheds
A watershed is a land area that collects and drains all the water falling within its boundaries via creeks, streams and rivers and eventually pours into larger bodies of water such as lakes, the ocean, or other rivers. It can also refer to the boundaries of those creeks, streams, and rivers. These basins have an important role for the environment and communities, providing clean water for drinking, irrigation, industry and recreation. With a better understanding of watersheds, and the activities of humans that can help or harm watersheds, we are better equipped to make and implement decisions that protect watersheds.
