Water Chemistry
Water chemistry is the study of the chemical composition of water, which includes the composition of both dissolved and suspended substances in water. Water chemistry is important to understand in order to ensure the quality of water, monitor water pollution, and understand the global water cycle. Water chemistry has also been used to monitor industrial and agricultural runoff, to study contamination of drinking water, and to observe the acidification of natural waters. Investigating water chemistry is important to establish environmental quality guidelines, water safety standards, and ecologically sustainable management of water resources. By understanding and studying the chemical composition of water, its impacts on the environment and human health can be better understood.
