Theoretical Climatology
Theoretical climatology is a scientific discipline that examines climate patterns, processes and interactions. It is concerned with the investigation of global climate models and their relevance to climate change. Theoretical climatology applies theoretical and numerical modelling techniques to understand and predict the behaviour of the climate system on different timescales. It is considered a valuable tool for predicting global climate changes, informing policy decisions, and improving the accuracy of weather forecasts. Additionally, theoretical climatology plays an important role in helping to identify climate hazards and vulnerabilities and to mitigate climate related risks.
