Sustainable Soil Science
Sustainable Soil Science is the study of the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soils and their effects on the environment and human health. It involves using soil management practices that promote the conservation of soil resources and protect against soil degradation. This includes conservation tillage, cover crops, anaerobic digestion, and other soil-building strategies. These practices help to improve soil fertility, water infiltration, soil structure and other soil attributes, and have positive impacts on crop productivity, water and energy savings, and climate change mitigation. Sustainable Soil Science can also help to reduce pollution and land degradation, improve water availability, preserve biodiversity, and increase soil carbon storage.
