Fresh Water Security
Fresh water security refers to the availability of sufficiently safe and clean water resources and infrastructure for meeting the current and future water requirements of people and the environment. Fresh water security is an important factor for economic development, public health, and ecological well-being. Poor access to clean water can lead to increased disease, malnutrition, and poverty, as well as a decline in public health. Access to adequate fresh water is essential for providing food security, energy security, ecosystem health and human health. Solutions for fresh water security include better water management, improved infrastructure, and more efficient use of available water resources. Governments, agencies, and private entities are all responsible for ensuring that sufficient fresh water resources are available in order to meet the growing demand for water.
