Ecohydrology

Ecohydrology is the interdisciplinary study of the interactions between water and ecosystems. It focuses on the interactions between the hydrological system, organisms and their environment. This includes the study of how water flow affects and is affected by living organisms, biogeochemical processes, land and water use, hydrometeorological processes, and natural and human-made disturbances. Ecological research with hydrological applications is essential to understanding the functioning of ecosystems and the development of sustainable management practices. Ecohydrology applies to wetlands, rivers, lakes, oceans, and groundwater systems, and is a valuable tool for environmental management and conservation.
