Verbal Operant
Conditioning Verbal operant conditioning is a form of behavior modification which uses the reinforcement and punishment of verbal responses to modify the desired behavior. In this method of conditioning, the subject is prompted by a verbal cue or reward to perform a desired task or behavior. With repeated reinforcement, the desired behavior can become habitual. Verbal operant conditioning has been used to treat a variety of psychological and physical disorders, including eating and sleeping disorders and chronic pain. It has also been used in teaching and behavior modification techniques, such as to help autistic children communicate and exhibit desired behaviors. Verbal operant conditioning is an effective and powerful way to improve behavior and can be used in many different settings.
