Autism Spectrum Disorders
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are a range of neurodevelopmental disorders that involve social, behaviour, and communication impairments. Individuals with ASD often have difficulties with social interaction, communication, and executive functioning. Symptoms vary widely, due to the range of underlying conditions, but may include repetitive behaviours, sensory processing differences, difficulties forming friendships, and communication differences. ASD is a lifelong disorder that can have a dramatic impact on a person's life, but early diagnosis and interventions can improve outcomes. Treatment options vary depending upon the individual, and may include medications, therapies, and lifestyle modifications. With early diagnosis and appropriate treatments, people with ASD can lead successful and fulfilling lives.
