Zoonoses

Zoonoses are diseases or infections that are spread from animals to humans. They are a significant risk to human health and can have a major impact on public health, livestock production and global economies. Examples of zoonoses include rabies, Salmonella, E. coli and Avian Influenza. Zoonoses can be prevented through effective animal health management both on a large scale such as through vaccination programmes, as well as through simple, everyday measures such as thorough handwashing after touching animals.
