Cryptococcosis

Cryptococcosis is an infection caused by a type of fungus called Cryptococcus. It usually affects people with weakened immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS. Symptoms vary depending on where in the body the fungus is located, but can include fever, headache, confusion, and difficulty breathing. Treatment typically involves antifungal medications and may also include surgical intervention in severe cases. Cryptococcosis can be life-threatening and it is important to seek medical help as soon as possible after any suspected infection. Early diagnosis and treatment can improve survival rates.
